This is a two part series, geared for children ages 4-7. 

Series dates are February 3 & 10, 2024 10:30 am- 12:00 pm

Guided by an experience Child Life Specialist, children will engage in medical play and expressive arts, fostering a positive understanding of healthcare experiences. By promoting a proactive approach and building a foundation for health awareness children will take home essential strategies for coping with common healthcare encounters such as routine checkups, vaccines and so much more. Day 1 Feb 3:

The first day of the workshop will allow children to step into the shoes of doctors and nurses, using real and pretend medical supplies to assess and treat their patients - teddy bears. Through engaging and interactive play, participants will explore common medical experiences, demystifying checkups, medical imaging, blood work, vaccines and more. This hands-on workshop will not only educate but nurture and sense of autonomy, understanding, and confidence.

Day 2 Feb 10:

The second day of the workshop will shift focus to coping with medical experiences. Building on the learning from Day 1, participants will delve deeper through medical play and expressive art. Participants will have an opportunity to craft their personalized coping kits and develop coping plans that extend beyond the workshop, offering practical tools for real life medical and healthcare experiences.

Please have your children bring their own teddy bear, but be mindful that they will be using tape and bandages, so you may not want to use their favourite bear 😊
